Shashlik Sauce

Ingredients:

  •    150 g     Onions, Diced
  • 2 cloves    Garlic, minced
  •      3 tbs    Olive Oil
  •     250 g    Red Pepper, diced
  •     500 g    Tomato Sauce
  •   200 ml    Vegetable Broth
  •     50 ml    Red Wine (optional)
  •       50 g    Tomato Paste
  •      2 tsp    Curry Powder
  •      2 tsp    Hungarian Paprika
  •      2 tsp    Sambal Oelek
  •      2 tsp    Worcestershire Sauce
  •      1 tsp    Marjoram
  •      1 tsp    Cumin
  •      1 tsp    Prepared Mustard
  •                  Salt and Pepper to taste
  •      2 tsp    Sugar
  •     100 g    Sweet and Sour Pickles
  •   1 pinch    Chili Powder (optional)

Directions:

Saute onions and garlic until glassy. Add the diced red peppers, tomato sauce, broth and paste, cover and let it simmer for about 45 minutes.
Puree with an immersion blender and season with the above listed seasonings to taste.
Finely dice the pickle(s) and fold in.
